Douglas Drury, age 77, passed away on Friday, June 26, 2015 at his home in St. Helen, MI with his loving family by his side. He had lived in St. Helen since 1988, formerly of Grand Blanc, MI. Doug was born to Elmer and Laura (Wellington) Drury in Flint, MI on October 17, 1937. On January 30, 1960 he married Virginia C. Wildmo in Flint, MI. Doug was a member of UAW Local 659 retiring from Flint Metal Center. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, motorcycles, and being outside working. He was a great carpenter and a jack of all trades. Doug also enjoyed spending time with family camping and traveling to Florida where he wintered.
Doug is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Virginia “Ginny” Drury of St. Helen; son, Curtis (Denise) Drury of Flint, MI; daughters, Carla (Ted) Sarver of Belmont, MI and Julie Drury of Swartz Creek, MI; grandchildren, Derek (Danielle) Justice, Jordan Justice, Scott Whittecar, Shannon Whittecar, Nick Drury, and Jacob Drury; great grandchildren, Caden, Anthony, Brayden, and Jocelyn; brother, Elmer Drury of Flint, MI; and sisters, Jessie (Paul) Couture of St. Helen and Margaret (Bob) Studer of Flint; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Laura Drury.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at a later time.
Arrangements were handled by Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in St. Helen, MI.
