Dorothy Diane Jenkins, a beloved member of her family and community, passed away on Saturday, December 14, 2024, in St. Helen, MI at the age of 83. She was born on October 6, 1941, in Grayling, MI to Roscoe and Leah (Beythan), Dorothy dedicated her life to her family and had a profound impact on those around her. She lived in St. Helen for most of her life.
Dorothy was a proud member of the Good Samaritan Camping Group, where she fostered both friendships and a sense of belonging within the community. Her weekends often found her indulging in her passions for painting and sewing, expressing her creativity through these artistic endeavors.
Each month, Dorothy enjoyed the company of her peers as she dined with the Senior Community Group, building connections and sharing laughter with her fellow seniors in the area. These gatherings were cherished moments in her life, reflecting her warmth and love for companionship.
She is survived by her children: Vera (Edward) Zettel, Dr. Christopher (Rosie) Jenkins, Dr. Jay (Donna Edles) Jenkins, and Dr. Amy (Dr. Michael Finton) Hance. Dorothy was a proud grandmother to Melissa (Travis) Lyons, Nathan Zettel, Rachel Zettel, Christopher Jenkins, James (Brittany) Jenkins, Joshua (Jaylene) Jenkins, Elizabeth (Jacob) Thompson, Nicholas Jenkins, Timothy Hance, and Morgan (Mahmoud) Itani. She also leaves behind seven great-grandchildren, and many sisters in law, brothers in law, nephews, and nieces.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, husband Carl Jenkins, and her brother, Maurice (Bonnie) Dowell.
Her legacy of love, creativity, and community spirit will remain cherished in the hearts of all who knew her. Dorothy Diane Jenkins will be greatly missed, but her memory will live on through her family and friends.
The funeral service will be held at Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in St. Helen on Monday, December 30, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. with visitation starting at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Maple Valley Cemetery.
