Doris Mae Hammond

March 18, 1936 — June 24, 2017

Doris Mae “Oda” Hammond, age 81 of Alger, passed away Saturday, June 24, 2017 at her home. Oda was born on March 18, 1936 to Thomas and Verna Zeman in Johnstown, PA. She married George Hammond on June 6, 1987 in Rochester Hills, MI. Oda has lived in Alger since 1991, formerly of Utica, MI. She enjoyed trips to the casino and was an avid Nascar fan, especially following driver #24 Jeff Gordon. She was loved by all her family and friends. Oda called her first granddaughter, Kim the “Queen” and worshipped her great-granddaughter, Abi the “Princess”.

Oda is survived by her husband of 30 years, George Hammond of Alger, daughter, Sandi Bray of West Branch, Janet (Jim) Cashion of West Branch, daughter, Cheryl Delmotte of Englewood, FL, daughter, Lynelle (Bob) Hammond of Pontiac, MI, daughter, Leah Hammond of Romeo, MI, daughter, Launa (Rex) Toft of Somertown TN, son, David Hammond of Las Vegas, NV, son, Lionel Hammond of Romeo, MI, grandchildren, Kimberly (Pat) Bray, Michael Bray, David Tyler, Harold Baudreau, Jared (Halley) Toft and great-grandchildren, Abi Tyler, Jackson Tyler, Olivia Baudreau, Launa Baudreau, and Fallon Toft. Also surviving is brother, Tom Zeman and nephew, Mark Demanski. She is preceded in death by son-in-law, Bill Bray, sister, Marge Demanski, brother-in-law, Chuck Demanski, and nephew, Tommy Demanski.

A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.

The family would like to thank everyone at McLaren Hospice for all of their help, and a special thanks to Michelle, Ben, and Kelly.
