Doris Kalbfleisch - O'Daniel

Doris Kalbfleisch O’Daniel passed away peacefully with family by her side on February 6, 2025. Born in Detroit, MI on October 23, 1925, Doris led a life full of family, friends, and community. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 56 years, Jack Kalbfleisch. Together they built a beautiful life together, raising two children in Berkley, MI where she worked in the public school system. Doris was also preceded in death by her second husband, Oris O’Daniel, her sister Nancy (Walter) Komu, and her parents, Evan and Polly Williams.

Doris adored her family and her kindness, laughter, and warmth lives on through her children Nancy (Bob) Howald and her son Steven (Patty) Kalbfleisch, her grandchildren, Laura, Katie, Julie, Owen, Brock, Axel, Chad, David, and Kevin and many great-grandchildren (who called her Gi-Gi). Doris made a lasting impression on everyone she met and she had many long, treasured friendships. She loved cards, word games, books, golfing, skiing, wintering in Alabama, holiday meals with her family, the Detroit Free Press, Wheel of Fortune, and a nicely put together outfit. It was a lucky, long life that was full and well-lived. 

The family thanks the Brook of West Branch and Compassus Hospice for their care.

Cremation has taken place, and a memorial service will be held at Aurora on the Lake, 2323 Union Lake Road, Commerce Township, MI, 48382 from 12-3pm on Saturday, February 15th. Her memory will be a gift for all who knew her.
