Doris "Jackie" J. Lewis

Doris J. “Jackie” Lewis, age 86, passed away on Thursday, September 15, 2016 at West Branch Regional Medical Center. She had lived in West Branch, MI since 1993, formerly of Wayne, MI. Jackie was born on May 1, 1930 in Inkster, MI to Jack and Mattie (Bowers) Hudson. She married Ivan Lewis in Wayne, MI on September 1, 1950. Jackie was a member of the First United Methodist Church in West Branch, United Methodist Women, and Kiwanis Club of West Branch. She was a director of volunteers for Office of Economic Opportunity under Gov. Soapy Williams. She also founded Stephens Ministry at the First United Methodist Church in Wayne, MI and was the Secretary for a period of time. Jackie worked for the Headstart program and worked with senior citizens. She enjoyed crafts, traveling, playing the piano, music, helping others, and spending time with her family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Jackie is survived by her loving husband, Ivan Lewis of West Branch, MI; children, Gregory (Nancy) Lewis of New Boston, MI, Paul (Amy) Lewis of Westland, MI, Joy (Bryan) Schroeder of Port Huron, MI and Gail (Ron) Morris of Port Huron, MI; grandchildren, Tara, Jessica, Joshua, Matthew, Kristen, Katie, Michael, Nancy, Angela, Katherine; and 8 great-grandchildren. Also surviving is sister, Ginger Torok of Castro Valley, CA. She is preceded in death by her parents, sister, Joyce Aspenwall and brother, Lloyd Hudson.

Visitation at Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch, MI will begin on Monday, September 19, 2016 from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The Funeral Service will be on Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at the First United Methodist Church in West Branch at 11:00 a.m. with visitation starting at 10:00a.m. Rev. Tim Dibble will officiate. Burial will be at Cadillac Memorial West in Westland, MI on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at 1:00 p.m.
