Donald Ray Sortor, age 82, passed away on Sunday, April 5, 2015 at West Branch Regional Medical Center. He had lived in Rose City, MI since 1995, formerly of Deerfield, MI. Donald was born to Irving and Anna (Kregel) Sortor in Monroe, MI on May 1, 1932. He served in the Army during the Korean War, and was a member of the American Legion in Ida, MI. Donald retired from Chrysler on July 31, 1991. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, football, spending time with his grandchildren and taking them for tractor rides. Donald was the jack of all trades.
Donald is survived by his wife, Donna Sortor; children: Rex (Cindy) Sortor, Rick Milner, Cindy (Charles) Davis, Pamela (Bernard) Herman, Jess Sortor, Kelly Bonner, and Sandra Milner (Kevin Wing); 18 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild; brother, Stan (Janice) Sortor; and sister in law, Lila Sortor. He is preceded in death by his parents, 1st wife, Bonnie Crunkilton-Sortor, son, Terry Sortor, brothers, Jerry and Gil Sortor, and sister, Delores Pretranglo.
Visitation at Holy Family Catholic Church in West Branch, MI will begin on Monday, April 13, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. until the Memorial Mass at 11:00 a.m. Father Patrick Maher will officiate.
Memorial Contributions may be made to Holy Family Catholic Church or Ogemaw County Humane Society.
