West Branch, MI

Donald J. Mitrzyk, age 85, passed away after a lengthy battle with illness in his West Branch home on the evening of Tuesday, June 25, 2024. This date marked his 64th wedding anniversary with Barbara, his high school sweetheart. Father Emmanuel Finbarr blessed Don and Barbara on the morning of their anniversary, just before Don was called to the Lord.

He was born on February 5, 1939, in Pinconning, MI to John and Victoria (Podgorniak) Mitrzyk.

Don, a Navy veteran, lived a rich and fulfilling life, supported by a cherished family, unwavering faith, a successful career, and a passion for travel. He instilled these values to his five children and their families through his steadfast example.

As an entrepreneur, Don established a successful agricultural supply business, which enabled him and Barbara to explore the world and ingrain in their children and grandchildren a deep appreciation for learning and discovery. He was a proud graduate of the University of Michigan, a devoted fan of Michigan football, and a man who cherished his relationships with loved ones.

His love for his family was immeasurable. Donald leaves behind his loving wife, Barbara Mitrzyk, and a legacy of children: Colleen (Nick) Carlson, Brian (Shelley) Mitrzyk, Sandra (Bernie) Rabidue, Jenifer (Dave Miller) Mitrzyk, and Julie (Tom) Williams, grandchildren who brought immense joy to his life: Cori (Alex) Cornelius, Erin (Dominick Decker) Mitrzyk, Tori Rabidue, Derek (Cassidy) Rabidue, Lexie (Conner Graber) Rabidue, Hopper Miller, Wit Miller, Olivia Williams, Maisy Williams, Eleanore Williams, great grandchildren Mason Cornelius, and a grandson due in August 2024. His memory will be cherished by his siblings Robert (Jane) Mitrzyk, Karen (Norm) Tuma, Lori (Jim) Szyperski, and Jack (Sue) Mitrzyk, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his parents, along with siblings Joseph (Edith) Mitrzyk and Bernard (Kathy) Mitrzyk.
