Donald Keith Brindley of Prescott passed away suddenly at Bay Regional Medical Center in Bay City, MI on March 7th, 2014. Don was born on September 26, 1930 to Louis and Etta Brindley of Hale MI.
He retired in 1992 from Local 324 Operating Engineers. Don was a pilot who started to fly at the age of 14. He married Lois M. Baldwin of Prescott on August 13th, 1955. They had 4 children, 9 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren. Don enjoyed being with his family and grandchildren. He loved flying his airplane and had built an airstrip in back of his land. The only way they would travel to Cedar Point, OH was if Don flew them in his plane. After he sold his plane Don and Lois started riding a touring motorcycle. They went on several long trips with the Antcliffs and Rabidues, Don really enjoyed that. Last summer he rode several times at 82 years young. He had a garden that he enjoyed. He traveled back and forth between two of his kids on his golf cart on trails he made through the woods. Don could be found running his backhoe or tinkering with his Allis Chalmers tractors. He was a friend to everyone.
Besides his wife Lois, whom he was married to for over 58 years, he is survived by daughters Marie (Richard) Gibson, Yvonne (Bob) Hittle of West Branch, Nannette (Joe) Hoffman, and son Troy (Paula) Brindley of Prescott. Grandchildren NaTasha Beyerle (Shannon) Ackler of Holly, Lance (Jessica Myshock) Beyerle of Freeland; Cody, Courtney, and Morgan Brindley of Prescott, Lorna and Jovie Hoffman of Prescott; Leslie and Kara Hittle of Linden. Two great grandchildren, Ian Ackler of Holly and Sydney Beyerle of Freeland. Also survived by four sisters, Doris Jean (Irvin) DuVall of Florida, Shirley Torrey, Linda Mills, and Alberta Weigard all of Arizona. Aunt Dorothy of Bay City, MI; Sister-in-law Wanda Baldwin of California, severel nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death were his parents Lou and Etta Brindley, sister Mary Ellen Gallinger, in-laws Russell and May Baldwin, sister-in-law Ruth Wolcott, and brother-in-law George Baldwin. Two special uncles Richard and Jack Brindley.
He was a member of the Episcopal Church, AOPA, and Pioneer Power Tractor Club.
Don will be cremated.
A memorial service will be held for Donald and Lois at the Pioneer Power Tractor Club Log Church in West Branch on Saturday, October 28, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. Burial of their ashes will follow at the Selkirk Cemetery in West Branch.
