Donald George Curtis, age 71, passed away on Monday, February 17, 2020 at his home in West Branch. He lived in West Branch for most of his life. Don was born on March 7, 1948 in West Branch to George and Melvina (Reiten) Curtis. He grew up in Pinconning and Bay City and graduated from Pinconning High School in 1966. He attended Ferris University and was drafted into the United States Army serving in Vietnam where he served as a Medic Surveyor. Don got married and worked for his family until he started his own construction company, Don Curtis Builders. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, mushroom hunting, traveling, and camping at Island Lake. Don especially loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Don is survived by his daughter, Stephanie (Troy) Symons; son, Aaron (Tori) Curtis; grandchildren, Jordan Symons, Madison Symons, Ashlynn Symons, Megan Symons and Lilly Curtis; sister, Judy (Don) Roy; brothers, Larry (Robin) Curtis and Howie (Debbie) Curtis; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation at Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch will begin on Thursday, February 20, 2020 from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, February 21, 2020 at the Ogemaw Hills Free Methodist Church at 11:00 a.m. with visitation starting at 10:00 a.m. Pastor David Kurtz will officiate.
