Diane M. Hofmann

Diane Marie Hofmann, age 79, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 24, 2009. Diane was born in Detroit to Irene Gray-Dematio Demay and Sylvester “Rudy” Dematio Demay. The family moved to West Branch in 1942. Diane was the Valdictorian of her class of 1948 and the same year was crowned Ogemaw County “Snow Queen” and the “Queen of Michigan”, crowned by the Govenor G. Mennen Williams. Diane married Lawrence N. Hofmann, who was a Michigan State Trooper in 1950. Diane’s home and gardens were her passion and she created, with her husband, a gracious welcoming atmosphere which was voted most popular in the West Branch “Parade of Homes.” Their home was always filled with family and friends. Diane is survived by Larry, her loving husband of 59 years; four children, Carol, Lauren, Linda and Eric; sons-in-law, Mehrdad and Gary, three grandchildren, Sarah, Jarred and Austin; her brother, Pat Demay and family; Larry’s brother Dick Hofmann and family; and many wonderful loving friends.
