Dennis W. Wangler

Dennis William Wangler, age 84 of West Branch, passed away Thursday, December 1, 2005 at West Branch Regional Medical Center. He was born January 6, 1921 in West Branch, the son of Joseph and Flora (O'Connor) Wangler. He married Marie Schaefer on January 22, 1944. Dennis was a dairy farmer and lived in Ogemaw County for all of his life. He served in the U.S. Army for 4 years during WWII. Dennis served as a past Ogemaw County Commissioner for 18 years, was active in the VFW, the Moose Lodge, the Eagles, Holy Family Catholic Church and several church and civic organizations. Dennis is survived by his children, Gary (Barbara) Wangler, Gayle (Raymond) Adams, Kenneth Wangler, Karen (Thomas) Howard, Gloria (Robert) Schmitt and Mark Wangler (friend Tammy Partlo) all of West Branch and Beverly (William) Sedlock of Norwalk, OH, 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his sisters, Sr. Verona (Florence) Wangler of Grand Rapids and Vera (Ernie) Gildner of Cheboygan and his brother, John "Jack" (Theresa) Wangler of Royal Oak, several nieces and nephews and very special dear Louise DeMatio, and his friend, Sr. Susan Keller. He was preceded in death by his wife Marie, brothers, Donald, Vernon, Joseph and Maurice and sisters, Patricia Dise and Sr. Michele (Catherine) Wangler. Visitation at the Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch will begin on Saturday, December 3, 2005 from 7-9 pm and Sunday from 12-9 pm with a Scripture Service at 7:30 pm. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Monday, December 5, 2005 at Holy Family Catholic Church, Klacking Creek. Fr. Miro D. Wiese OFM will officate with burial following at St. Joseph Cemetery, West Branch. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Dominican Sisters Health Center, 2025 E. Fulton Street, Grand Rapids, MI 49503 or to the charity of your choice. A Special Thank you to the Doctors and Staff of West Branch Regional Medical Center.
