Dennis D. Manick

Dennis D. Manick, age 68 of West Branch, passed away Thursday, April 17, 2008 at Horizon Senior Living in St.Helen. Mr. Manick was born February 28, 1940 in Wyandotte. He was a member of the U.S. Air Force from 1958-1961, serving as military police and a guard of U.S. airplanes. While stationed in Labrador, he guarded President Eisenhower’s plane. He married the former Ellen K. Miller on August 8, 1964 at Holy Redeemer Church in Flint. They had 44 wonderful years together. Dennis worked and retired from GM/EDS Fisher Body tank plant in Grand Blanc. Together they lived in Flint, Traverse City, Interlochen and lastly, West Branch. Dennis is survived by his wife Ellen, children; Denelle Manick of West Branch and Christopher (Amy) Manick of Oscoda, granddaughter; Kaylynn Amy Manick, who was born in March 2008. Also surviving are his brothers, Edward (Pat) Manick of Wyandotte and Terry (Vicki) Manick of Traverse City, his sister, Shirley (Chuck) Taylor of Macomb, sister in law, Doris (Doug) Serrels , his brother in law, Dave Warren and many loved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his beloved sister, Geraldine, parents; Edward and Anna (Mikulin) Manick , his in laws, Francis and Julie Miller and sister in law, Sandy Warren. Visitation at the Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch will begin on Sunday, April 20, 2008 from 5-9 p.m. with a Scripture Service at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in West Branch. Fr. Robert Bissot will officiate with burial following at St. Joseph Cemetery, West Branch. Memorial Contributions may be made to Hospice of Helping Hands, West Branch.
