Delores Isedorey (Spohn) Good, age 88, went to meet her Lord on Friday, April 23, 2010 at Bortz Health Care in West Branch, Michigan due to complications from the massive stroke she had on September 24, 2009. Delores was born on May 1, 1921 in Flint, Michigan to Albert James Spohn and Marie R. (LaChance) Spohn Allen. She continued to live in the Flint area during her childhood and school years, working as a housekeeper for families to earn room and board. While attending a youth meeting held by the Flint Church of the Brethren, Delores met her future husband, Harold Robert Good. On January 15, 1938, they were married at his parents’ home in Prescott, Michigan. Since that day, Delores was a devoted wife and loving mother; always encouraging, caring, and supporting each member of her family with love. Delores’ strong faith led her to become a deaconess of the Zion Church of the Brethren, where she was actively involved, including teaching Sunday school. She also enjoyed the time that she spent teaching 4-H and being involved in Ladies Aid and the Busy Bee Club. Although Delores’ main interest was her family, she also had many hobbies which included crafts, crocheting, gardening, quilting, sewing, and traveling. Delores made it a point to quilt a blanket for each one of her children and grandchildren. Over the years she also created numerous afghans for family & friends. Delores truly had a green thumb and thoroughly enjoyed bringing life to plants and flowers that she grew. In the early 1980’s she became a member of The Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde in Oregon, which is the Native American reservation where her mother was born and raised. Delores absolutely enjoyed her last trip to Oregon in August 2008, where she attended her Tribe’s Pow Wow with her children and a few grandchildren. Delores is survived by her four children; Nancy (Ken) Hughey, Barbara (Gary) Hughey both of West Branch, Leroy (Mary Ellen) Good of Prescott, and Rosemary (Robert) Jameson of Bay City; 13 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren; sisters F. Annebell Spohn of Flint, Onetta June (Spohn) DeVoss, Dorothy Allen of Flint, and Shirley (Allen) Snell of Batesville, Arkansas; brothers Edward Allen of Clio and Kenneth Frasier; and numerous nieces and nephews. Delores was preceded in death by her loving husband, Harold; her parents; sisters Bertha Spohn, Mary M. (Spohn) Sims, and Thelma Jean (Allen) Bedard; brothers James A. Spohn, Robert (Mary) Allen, and Richard D. J. Allen; and three great grandsons Jeremy J. Burgher, Kevin J. Hughey, and Devon R. Knight. Visitations will be held at Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch on Wednesday, April 28th from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM and Thursday, April 29th from 12:00 PM to 9:00 PM. The funeral service of celebration will be officiated by Rev. Kevin Switzer at Zion Church of the Brethren (located 13 Miles east of West Branch on M-55) on Friday, April 30th at 11:00 AM. There will be a visitation preceding the service at 10:00 AM. Interment will take place immediately following the service at the Churchill Township Cemetery in Selkirk, MI.
