Delmar F. Whitman, age 80, of St. Helen, passed away Friday, December 5, 2007 at his home. He had lived in St. Helen since 1976, formerly of Grand Blanc. He was an active member of the Community Baptist Church of St. Helen. He served during WWII and received a Purple Heart. He retired from the Chevrolet V-8 Plant in Flint after 30 years of service. He enjoyed boating, fishing and traveling. Mr. Whitman is survived by his wife Pat Whitman of St. Helen, sons; Danny (Debbie) Whitman and David Whitman both of St. Helen, grandchildren, Dean, Mandy, Shawn, Danny Patrick, Craig, Jeremy and Chad and great-grandchildren; Shane, Trinity, Austin and Kallie. Also surviving are his sisters, Lila (Bob) Fieldler of Flint, Loretta Cook of Hale and Phyllis (James) Heilig of Curtisville and his brother, Tom (Sally) Whitman of Flint, his sisters-in-law, Peggy Coles of Bay City and Emma Delduca of St. Helen and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughters, Lucinda Whitman and Diane Angel and grandchildren, Michael and Megan Angel. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 13, 2007 at the Community Baptist Church. Rev. Ken Peterson will officiate.
