Della Mae Urbain

Passed away Saturday, August 30, 2014 at home. Age 89 years. Della was born November 11, 1924 in Carland, Michigan to Harlow and Cora (Smith) Stoddard. She married Lavern “Bud” Urbain in Henderson on July 20, 1943. Bud preceded her on December 26, 2007. Della was a member of the St. Charles United Methodist Church. She was a seamstress and homemaker. Della and Bud enjoyed playing cards, making Christmas wreaths, appliqueing sweatshirts, selling sweatshirts at bazaars and visiting family. Surviving are her children, Larry Urbain of St. Charles, Judy Mendyk of St. Charles, Karen (Robert) Gregor of Gaylord and Rob Urbain of West Branch; seven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren; a sister, Helen Devereaux and brother, Dale Stoddard; sisters-in-law, Arlene Kocur and Darlene Urbain; brother-in-law, Robert (Nell) Urbain. She was preceded by her parents, brother, Chet Stoddard; sisters, Marguerite and Lela; son-in-law, Gary Mendyk. Della’s family would like to thank her home care workers, Debbie Fowler, Jenney Wendling, Kristi Lieber and granddaughters, Kristin Mendyk and Penny Mendyk and Heartland Hospice Care. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at St. Charles United Methodist Church, 301 W. Belle Ave., St. Charles. Rev. Ernesto Mariona will officiate with burial in Riverside Cemetery. The family will receive visitors at the Kendall Funeral Home on Monday, September 1st from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. Memorials may be made to the St. Charles United Methodist Church or Heartland Hospice Care.
