David John Macko, age 61, passed away on Sunday, August 15, 2021 at The Villa at West Branch. He was born on June 22, 1960 in Flint, MI to Edward and Eva (Baibos) Macko. Dave lived in Prescott since 2009, formerly of Illinois and Bridgeport, MI.
On September 16, 1989, he married Carrie Hawley.
Dave graduated from Swartz Creek High School in 1978 and was a store manager at Toys R Us in Flint, Saginaw and Illinois for 25 years.
Dave worked for West Branch Rose City School District as a lunch aide at Surline Elementary School. He also worked for the Ogemaw Kids Club for 3 years. He very much enjoyed working with the kids. He was a member of the Boy Scouts #971 and enjoyed sports. Especially watching Gage in sports and Brianna in the theater productions.
Dave is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Carrie Macko of Prescott; children, Gage Macko and Brianna Macko, both of Prescott; brothers and sisters, Barbara Devonce, Lorraine Macko, Angie (Tim) Buda, Linda Daly, Paul (Louise) Macko, Rosemary (Aaron) Uptegraff, Dan (Yvonne) Macko, Spencer (Jennifer) Macko; brother-in-law, Troy (Marla) Hawley; nieces and nephews, Laurie (Brian) Clark, Kristen (Christopher) Weaver, Melissa Wiseman, Jennie Cavness, Cameron Macko, Heather Macko, Ray Macko, Ryan Macko, Patrick (Lacey) Hawley, and Kyle (Mindy) Hawley; great nieces and great nephews, Lia Clark, Hunter Cavness, Makayla Weaver, Andrew Weaver, Allie Weaver, Caitlyn Hawley, Blaine Hawley, Maddie Hawley and Easton Hawley; and many extended family.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brother, Gregory Macko, and nephew, Joe Devonce.
Visitation will be held at Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch on Thursday, August 19, 2021 from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, August 20, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation starting at 10:00 a.m. Pastor Brad Older will officiate.
Memorial contributions can be made to Boy Scout Troop #971 and the Ogemaw Heights Theatrical Troupe.
