David Franklin Harkness, age 81, passed away on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at his home in St. Helen, MI. He had lived in St. Helen since 1993, formerly from Hazel Park, MI. David was born on July 5, 1935 in Mississippi to James and Ruby (King) Harkness. He married Denise Marsaw on April 9, 1977 in Flint, MI. He was a member of the Faith Temple in Madison Heights, MI and the Ogemaw Hills Free Methodist Church in West Branch, MI where he served as an usher, greeter, and board member. David enjoyed fishing, target practicing, playing the Wii and Farkle, and faithfully reading his bible for over 40 years.
David is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Denise Harkness of St. Helen, MI; daughters, Cheryl (Mark) Ward of Flushing, MI and Nancy (David) Brusich of Prescott, AZ; grandchildren, Aaron, Jennifer, Stephanie, Brianna, Chloe, and Hope; great grandchildren, Sunny Rae and Kaleigh; sister, Helen (Dennis) Goodrow of Livonia, MI; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, son, Roger Harkness, and 3 siblings.
A memorial service will be held at the Ogemaw Hills Free Methodist Church in West Branch on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at 1:30 p.m. Visitation will begin at 11:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Pastor David Kurtz will officiate.
