David Northey, age 86 of St. Helen, passed away Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at McLaren Bay Region Hospital in Bay City. David was born in Detroit. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard for three years on an L.S.T. during WWII. He took part in the initial invasion of Okinawa and the Iwo Jima campaign. He worked for Michigan Bell Telephone until 1978 and enjoyed 34 years of active retirement in St. Helen. David is survived by his wife of 63 years, Virginia Northey, two children Robert (Jean) Northey of Livonia and Kathi (Jim) VanDeWiele of Prudenville, four grandchildren, twins Lea (Bill) Hanley and Nora VanDeWiele, Clayton Northey and Chadwick Northey and one great-grandson Kenny Hanley. Cremation has taken place and no services are scheduled. Memorial Contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
