David D. Kennedy age 74 of West Branch, formerly Ossineke, died Friday, May 30, 2008 at the West Branch Regional Medical Center. David was born on August 11, 1933 in Flint to David L. and Esther (DeLong) Kennedy. David was builder in the Ossineke area for many years and also owned and operated the Wagon Wheel Restaurant and Bar from 1989 to 2004. He was a member of the VFW Post #6754 of Spruce, the American Legion Post #0274 of Steubenville, Eagles Club #3762 of Spruce and the Moose Lodge #3000 of West Branch. He also served in the service during the Korean Conflict and received the Purple Heart. In 2005 David moved to West Branch where he owned and operated The Wagon Wheel Bar. David is survived by his wife Carol of West Branch. 5 daughters: Cheryl (Jim) Wieland of St. Augustine, FL; Debra (Steve) Birch of Chippewa Lake, Darlene Fritcher of Flint, Karen Rowley and Deanna (Mark) Rhoades of Mt. Morris, and their mother, Naomi Kennedy. One Son, Glen (Cindy) Sterns of Alabama. 2 stepsons Kevin (Renee) Swartzinski of Williamston and Neal Swartzinski of West Branch. There are also 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Dave also has 3 brothers and one sister surviving: Jay of Greenbush, Richard of Curtisville, Fredrick of Flint and Judy McCutty of Flint. There are many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by 5 brothers and 2 sisters. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 3:00P.M. to 9:00P.M. at the Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home, West Branch, Mi. Funeral services for David will be on Monday, June 2, 2008, at 1:30P.M. at the Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home, West Branch. Interment will be on Tuesday at 11:00A.M. in Flint Memorial Cemetery, Mt. Morris, MI. Family suggests memorial contributions may be made to Muscular Dystorphy or Special Olympics.
