Daniel Wilson Benjamin Sr., age 96, passed away Saturday August 17, 2013. Daniel was born on May 23, 1917 to Daniel Edward Benjamin and Eva Belle Franklin. He lived in Rose City for 63 years and was previously from West Branch. Dan was a master carpenter. He was a member of Holy Family Church, VFW in Rose City; he was a Rose City Council member, Rose City Lion, and decorated World War II Veteran with the Army Corps of Engineers. He enjoyed fishing with his wife, the outdoors, and camping. He especially loved his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Daniel is survived by his sons: Daniel W. (Rose Marie) Benjamin Jr. of Mt. Pleasant and Thomas (JoAn) Benjamin of Rose City. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and his sister, Betty Richardson. Daniel is preceded in death by his wife Edwina; two sons: Timothy Roach Benjamin and David Franklin Benjamin; brother, Frank; and sisters: Emma, Genevieve, and Thelma. Visitation at Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch will begin on Friday, August 23, 2013 from 6-8pm. Funeral will be held on Saturday, August 24, 2013 at 1:30 at Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch. Rev. Ron Thompson will officiate. Memorial contributions can be made to Rose City’s VFW.
