Daniel James Korman

Daniel James Korman, age 76, at lifelong resident of Lupton, MI passed away on Tuesday, April 21, 2020 at his home with his family by his side. He was born on May 15, 1943 to Frank and Arleita (Small) Korman in Lupton. Dan married Ethel Hanson on March 26, 1988 at Lupton Friends Church, where they met.

Dan taught mathematics at Rose City High School until Ogemaw Heights was built in 1969. He retired after 30 years, then worked part time at Kirtland Community College for about 20 years mostly teaching online the last decade or more.

Dan loved his family. He was very involved in his sons' lives, serving as their Cub Master, Scoutmaster, and Assistant Scoutmaster at different times.

Dan was a long term member of the Lupton Friends Church serving in many positions such as Treasurer, Presiding Clerk, and running sound for services. He was also the sexton for the Lupton Friends Cemetery, the Lane Heights Cemetery and took care for the selling of plots for years.

Dan spent many years researching his mother's genealogy tracing it back to England and William Bradford of The Mayflower. Dan belonged to the Rose City Area Historical Society. He shared his plethora of pictures and info with them as well as on several Facebook historical and genealogy sites.

Dan is survived by his loving wife, Ethel Korman of Lupton; sons, Jon Korman of Lansing, Joshua Korman of Novi and David (Dawn Fogal)Green of Allendale; grandchildren, Dylan Korman and Xander and Alexis Fogal; brother, David (Gloria) Korman of Lansing; sister-in-law, Gladys Korman of Spring Arbor; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Arleita and twin brothers, Richard and Raymond Korman.

A private graveside service for the family will be held at the Lane Heights Cemetery. Mel Killinger will officiate.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
