Daniel J. Zink Sr.

Daniel James Zink, Sr. of West Branch, Michigan died peacefully surrounded by family on April 6, 2023, at the age of 85.

Daniel was survived by his three sons, Daniel (Cynthia), David (Patricia) and Michael (Sherie) Zink. He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Shirley and his son, Mark.

He had nine grandchildren, Heather Zink, Aaron Zink, Jeremy (Carlye) Zink, Jason (Erica) Zink, Joshua (Londee) Zink, Jonathan (Chelsea) Zink, Jessica (David) Whitters, Jordan Zink and Jamie Zink. Daniel also had seven great grandchildren.

Daniel was born on July 10, 1937, in Detroit, Michigan, the youngest of five children. He married the love of his life, Shirley, on June 29, 1957. From the beginning, he was a skilled designer and lent his talents to military tank design, and tool and gauge design. He was the Design Supervisor at I E & E Industries Inc. in Royal Oak. Daniel also owned and operated the very successful Batavia School of Drafting.

In his later years, Daniel dedicated himself to the local church. He started as the Sunday School Superintendent at Utica Evangelistic Center and later became administrative pastor. He also participated in church ministry in Vero Beach, Florida.

Daniel had a passion for the Michigan Wolverines, fishing, landscaping, building and most of all, his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. No matter where life took him, he was ready to share a kind word, counsel and testimony of God’s saving grace. His greatest joy was leading someone to Christ and inviting them to church.

Daniel was an active Lake Ogemaw resident and every year looked forward to “putting in the boat” and planting flowers at his lovely lake home.

The family takes comfort that Daniel is now resting in the arms of Jesus and celebrating being reunited with all his family and friends who passed before him.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 15, 2023, at 1 p.m. at Faith Alive Church, 2945 Hansen Road, West Branch, Michigan 48661. A church luncheon will follow.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Daniel’s name to his home church, Faith Alive Church, in West Branch, Michigan.
