Crystal B. Fox

Crystal Beatrice Bartels Fox passed away peacefully Sunday, November 18, 2012 at Bortz Health Care in West Branch. Crystal was born in Rose City, Michigan on January 12, 1913 to Marian White Bartels and Albert Bartels, growing up on a farm on Townline Road, the eldest of three siblings. Crystal attended the Rose City schools graduating in 1932. She attended many alumni banquets the last being the oldest living graduate from Rose City High. Crystal met Earl Fox at a dance held at Selkirk hall. They dated and married June 30, 1932, living on the family farm on Morrison Road. They raised seven daughters and one son. Through the years she enjoyed dancing, bowling, travel and spending time with family and she always kept her Christian faith. Surviving are her daughters, Jean (Erwin) Myas of West Branch, Joan (Dave) Lee of Gainesville, TX, Rosalie (Larry) Baynham of Edgefield, SC, Roy (Lenore) Fox of Myrtle Creek, OR, Coleen Spencer of West Branch and Pam (Russ) Hilts of Rose City. 28 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years Earl Fox, her daughters Shirley Fox and Earleen Fox, four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Visitation at the Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch will begin on Tuesday, November 20, 2012 from 3-9 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. John Munn will officiate. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Earleen Fox Scholarship Fund to raise funds for breast cancer awareness.
