Clarence A. Meir, age 89 of Rose City, passed away Tuesday, June 19, 2012 at his home. Clarence had lived in Rose City for all of his life. Clarence farmed the family farm for all of his life and he owned and operated Meir Oil Company from 1965 to 1986. Clarence is survived by his wife Correan Meir of Rose City, children, David (Denise) Meir of Flint, Clayton (Debbie) Meir of West Branch, Geraldine (David) Wakefield of Rose City, Leonard Meir of West Branch, Bernard Meir of Traverse City, Flora Nichols of Bancroft and Thomas (Sharon Hanft) Meir of West Branch, 40 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren. Also surviving is his sister Frances Cleveland of Redford. He was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, a son-in-law and daughter-in-law, his parents and 2 brothers. Visitation at the Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch will begin on Thursday, June 21, 2012 from 1-9 p.m. There will be a Scripture Service at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. On Friday, Clarence will lie in state at Holy Family Catholic Church, Klacking Creek, beginning at 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Celebration of Life Mass at 11:00 a.m. Fr. Patrick Maher will officiate with burial following at Holy Family Cemetery.
