Charles John Sauve, a cherished figure in his community and an extraordinary family man, left this world on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at the age of 88, in West Branch, MI. He was born on September 19, 1936, in Bay City, MI to Clayton and Catherine (Williams) Sauve. Charles was a beacon of kindness, love, and generosity who touched countless lives throughout his lifetime.
A proud veteran, he served his country in the United States Air Force. Following his military service, Charles became well-known as a skilled welder in the area, dedicating much of his life to his craft. He was not only respected for his expertise but also for his willingness to mentor younger men entering the field—a testament to his nurturing spirit and commitment to fostering growth in others.
Beyond his professional life, Charles was a man of joy and laughter. His engaging sense of humor made him a beloved presence to those around him. He had an effortless ability to tell jokes that brought smiles and laughter, creating a warm atmosphere wherever he went.
Charles found solace and joy in his hobbies, particularly tending to his yard and maintaining a serene pond filled with fish. These tranquil moments outside were sacred to him, reflecting his deep appreciation for nature and simplicity.
Family was paramount to Charles; he often said that his proudest accomplishments were his family. He is survived by his children, Debbie (Charles) Kraxner, Sherry (Glenn) Kempel, Todd Sauve, and Scott (Carla) Sauve. His loving legacy continues through his grandchildren—Christie (Scott) Couture, Joshua (Sarah) Kraxner, Emily Kraxner, Evan (Kristi) Kraxner, Sarah (Daren) Walters, Jodi (Kevin) Taylor, Samantha Denstedt, and Savannah (Robert) Dillon—as well as his 22 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren and his beloved dog, Abby.
He is also survived by his siblings Jim, Madeline, Joyce (Walt), and Carol.
Charles is preceded in death by his parents, beloved wife Eileen, his sons Jamie Sauve and Jerry Sauve, his grandson Tim Sauve, and siblings Donna and Jerry.
Cremation has taken place, and a celebration of life will be held at a later time.
The bond he shared with his family through laughter and love will forever remind them of the profound impact he made in their lives.
As friends and family reflect on Charles's remarkable journey, they will remember him as a kind-hearted man whose presence will be greatly missed but whose spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
