Charles D. Fay, passed away peacefully at home on April 12, 2025, at the age of 84. Born on August 15, 1940, in Flint, Michigan, he was the proud son of Charles Stephen and Geraldine (Toler) Fay.
Chuck's life was marked by dedication and service, beginning with his education at Beecher High School. After graduating, he enlisted in the United States Navy and proudly served from August 3, 1958, until August 2, 1964, during a pivotal time in American history marked by the Cuban Blockade. Following his military service, he followed in his father's footsteps by joining the City of Flint Fire Department, where he worked diligently from 1969 until his retirement in 1992.
On April 17, 1964, Chuck married the love of his life, Cherilyn Rae Simon, in Flint. Together, they shared many cherished years until her passing. Chuck was also the father of five, leaving behind his sons Tim C. Fay, Charles S. Fay, Dale A. Fay, and daughter Tracey L. Fay. He took immense pride in his family, which includes eight grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren, each of whom was a source of tremendous joy.
In addition to his family, Chuck enjoyed a variety of hobbies. He took particular pleasure in collecting fire memorabilia, deer hunting, riding his beloved Harley Davidson, and raising show pigeons. His passions reflected his adventurous spirit and appreciation for life.
He is preceded in death by his parents, beloved wife, Cherilyn Fay, his son Curtis Fay, and his great-grandson Gavin Fay, brother Paul Fay, and sister Madeline Lux.
Visitation for Chuck will be held at Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Homes in St. Helen, Michigan on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and again on Thursday, April 17, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Military Honors and burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, St. Helen, Michigan, starting at 1:30 PM.
Charles D. Fay's legacy of service, love, and adventure will undoubtedly leave an indelible mark on all who knew him. He will be remembered not only for his contributions to the community but also for the warmth and kindness he extended to everyone around him.
