Charles D. Mintz, age 67 of Howell, passed away suddenly at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Howell. He had lived in the Flint-Davison area for most of his life. He was a member of the Eagles Club of Flint. He had previously worked as a self employed finish carpenter for 35 years and also was formerly employed by Aukers Construction Co. of Grand Blanc. He sailed the Great Lakes working on barges and iron ore ships from 1956 to 1960. Mr. Mintz was very involved with the American Lung Association. Even though he was on oxygen, he participated in the annual "Breath of Life" walk. He loved his girls, his family, dancing, country music, cowboy boots and his dog, Sassy. Mr. Mintz is survived by his daughters, Kathy Libbey of Bruce, WI, Peggi (Troy) Tuggle of Howell, Renijo (Mourice) Haworth of Brush Prairie, WA, and Tonya (Matt) Solarz of Hartland, 8 grandchildren, Adam and Ross Libbey, Nathan and Steven Clare, Robert Boettiger, Christina Haworth and Ben and Andy Wolberth and a very special niece, Dawn Marie Mayle of Fowlerville. Also surviving are his sisters, Evelyn Harrington and Ann Karl, both of Port Huron and his brother, Delbert Mintz of Pontiac. Visitation at the Steuernol & McLaren Fuenral Home in Rose City will begin on Monday, July 25, 2005 from 1:00 P.M. until 6:30 P.M. A Graveside Service at 7:00 P.M. will follow at Lane Heights Cemetery in Lupton, Michigan. Memorial Contributions may be made to the American Lung Association.
