Casmeir Pelak, age 73, passed away on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, at MyMichigan Medical Center in West Branch, MI. He was born on August 25, 1950, in Detroit, MI to Francis and Mary (Dudek) Pelak. He lived in West Branch since 2014, formerly of Warren, MI.
He was a man of faith. He attended St. Clemens Catholic School in Centerline, MI and attended St. Joseph Catholic Church in West Branch.
He was a member of the International Aerospace and Machinist Union throughout his career.
Casmeir had a zest for life and a deep love for the outdoors. He cherished living in the countryside and enjoyed spending time in his Man Cave, where he created various crafts and collected hats, which he proudly displayed. Casmeir had a special bond with his pets, including his bird Zazu, as well as his dog Missy. He found joy in watching sports and collecting sports memorabilia.
Casmeir had numerous hobbies that brought him joy. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, woodworking, and various crafts. Maintaining his 8-acre property, tending to his ponds, and caring for his fruit trees were activities that brought him great satisfaction.
Casmeir is survived by his fiancée, Cynthia McKenna, and his siblings: Harry Pelak, Theodore Pelak, Christine (Steve) Reed, and James (Veronica) Pelak. He considered Cynthia's grandchildren, McKenna Jordan and McKayla Jordan, as his own. He was also a godfather to Crystal Marie Reed and had many nieces and nephews.
Casmeir was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters Dolores Groholski, Margaret Pelak, Sally Spangenberg, and Antionette Pelak. He also considered Cynthia's daughter, Christin McKenna-Jordan, as his own.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later time in the summer.
