Carter H. Miller, age 79 of Alpena, passed away at Aleda E. Lutz Veterans Hospital in Saginaw after a brief illness. Mr. Miller had lived in Alpena since 1996, formerly of West Branch. He was a member of the U.S. Navy, the Coast Guard, the Fleet Reserve, Disabled American Veterans, the National Association of Realtors, the American Legion, the Lions Club, Vietnam Veterans of America and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Mr. Miller is survived by his daughters, Susan (Joseph) Mezzano of West Branch and Terri (Alex) Mamo of Redford, grandchildren--Lisa (Jerry) Hepner of Boyne City, Gina (Eric) Richards of Midland, Michelle Mamo and Anthony Mamo both of Redford, and great-grandchildren, Joseph and Katherine Hepner and James Richards. Also surviving are his step-children, Germaine Stoppa (Ronald Sommerfeld), Randy (Sherry) Stoppa, Niel Stoppa and Scott (Sandi) Stoppa all of Alpena, his sisters, Reta Reames of AuGres and Irene Matthews of Bay City and a brother, Rev. Duane (Diana) Miller of Caro, 4 nephews and 1 niece. He was preceded in death by his first wife June (Moore) Miller in 1994 and his second wife Pearl (Stoppa) Miller in 2004. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday March 2, 2005 at the First United Methodist Church in Alpena. The family will be present at church to receive friends beginning at 10:00 A.M. Rev. David Diamond will officiate. Memorial Contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Alpena.
