Carmen "Kaye" Stokoszynski

Carmen "Kaye" (Campbell) Stokoszynski, age 68, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 11, 2020 at The Horizon Senior Living in West Branch. She was born November 18, 1951 to June (Drain) Campbell and Capt. William Bruce Campbell in Edmore Michigan. They had 4 children. Her childhood held many good memories but life could be difficult for a family back in a time when post-traumatic stress disorder for veterans was not understood. Her Uncle (his namesake), Carmen Drain, later became a historian and helped the family find peace and understanding through his own journey. Kaye spoke lovingly and sympathetically of her father, veterans and mother through greater understanding.

Kaye, in her last years, fought a very arduous battle against Lewy Body Dementia and often felt lost and misunderstood before discovering her own prognosis. Her painful journey in her last years inspired her daughter and those who helped care for her. She inspired a deeper level of compassion and understanding and love.

As a young adult, Kaye went to college to become a social secretary and remained very close to her younger siblings still at home. Kaye married Bill Stokoszynski and her younger siblings often told stories of good times together with them on trips, picking blueberries and Christmas cookie decorating competitions. Kaye and Bill later had children of their own, Autumn Jasman and Andrew Jacob "A.J." Stokoszynski. Kaye was predominantly a homemaker and a loving mom. She took pride in cooking good food, growing a garden, canning and having a small hobby farm with chickens and various pets, which made for great memories for her children. She loved nature, long walks, good times with family and sunny vacations. She also loved writing and had some of her poetry published.

Kaye is survived by her mother, June Campbell Herman; daughter, Autumn Jasman; siblings Bill Herman, Margie Levert, Shelly Zunick, Mike Herman, Robin Dubiel, and Jacob "J.J." Herman; grandchildren, Jonah, Eli and Molly Jasman and their father, Jamie Jasman and Andrew, Lucus and Sophie Stokoszynski and their mother, Allison Stokoszynski Lochshire. She had many loving brothers and sisters through marriage, nieces and nephews she loved and was godmother to Owen Dubiel. She was preceded in death by her father, son, A.J. Stokoszynski, grandson, Gabe Jasman, sister, Serina Scoby, her loving step-father, Jerald “Jake” Herman (Korean War Veteran), the father of her children, Bill Stokoszynski, grandparents, and several aunts and uncles.

Carmen Kaye will be greatly missed and remembered lovingly with a smile. Her family is deeply saddened but grateful for her everlasting peace and legacy she left behind. Her daughter wishes to extend her gratitude to the staff at Horizons Senior living and to the compassionate care of Compassus Hospice.
