Carl Louis Walter, age 94, passed away on Monday, August 26, 2019 at The Villa at West Branch. He lived in West Branch for his entire life. Carl was born on May 21, 1925 in West Branch to Louis and Ida (Yantz) Walter. He was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church where he served as a Eucharistic Minister. He enjoyed shuffle board, hunting, playing the guitar, and baseball. Carl was an avid baseball fan, especially a fan of the Detroit Tigers. He also enjoyed farming and had farmed the same property all his life.
Carl is survived by his niece and caregiver, Betty Jones of West Branch; nephews, Robert Jones of Saginaw, Gary (Arlene) Jones of Rumely, and Gerald (Chris) Jones of Saginaw; and many great nieces, nephews and 2 great great nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Joan Walter, Bernadine Jones and brother in law, Harold Jones.
Visitation at Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch will begin on Thursday, August 29, 2019 from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a rosary at 4:00 p.m. The funeral mass will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Friday, August 30, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation starting at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Father Emmanuel Finbarr will officiate.
