Burt Charles Morris

Burt Charles Morris, age 94, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 5, 2023, at his home in West Branch, MI. He was born on Sunday, May 5, 1929, in West Branch to Charles and Adeline (Sirmeyer) Morris. Burt lived in West Branch his entire life.

He graduated from West Branch High school in 1947. On October 6, 1951 he married Phyllis Hall.

Burt worked on the family farm all his life and also held positions at the Bicycle Factory in West Branch and for Henry Sappington formerly known as J.O.Mutch, for over 35 years as a roustabout. He was a dedicated member of the First United Methodist Church in West Branch.

Burt had a passion for farming and gardening, and he enjoyed camping with his family in the Upper Peninsula. He was a kind and generous man who made a positive impact on the community. Burt's dedication to the Ogemaw County Fair was evident as he volunteered throughout the years. He and his wife, Phyllis, were honored to be crowned King and Queen at the fair.

Burt is survived by his children, Linda Vincent, James (Liz) Morris, Thomas (Lynn) Morris, David (Patti) Morris, and Steven (Beth) Morris, all of West Branch. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Bonnie (Lynn) Morris, Brad (Shannon) Morris, Melissa (Mack Jr.) Hensley, Alyshia (Justin) Griffith, Jennifer Lynn (Jeremy) Griffis, Shannon (Richard) McArthur, Derek (Desirea) Morris, Cassandra Morris, Jennifer Ray (Nick) Gorske, Samantha (Armando) Sandoval, Stephanie (Wayne Zettle) Morris, Deven (Justine) Morris, Chelsea (Jake) Stephens, and great-grandchildren, Parker, Bentley, Hudson, Madisyn, Izabellah, Ryleigh, Lane, Cole, Ada, Ayden, Jaxson, Graham, Greyson, Asher, Madeleine, Haley, Sophie, Ethan, Aaron, Dax, Kinsley, and Raelynn. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.

Burt was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Adeline, his wife Phyllis in 2018, his grandson Corey Thomas Vincent, his brother Robert "Whitey," and his son-in-law Thomas Vincent.

Visitation will begin at Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch on Thursday, November 9, 2023 from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Friday, November 10, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in West Branch, with visitation starting at 12:00 p.m. Pastor Michelle Forsyth will officiate. Burial will follow at Brookside Cemetery.
