Bryce "Matt" C. Mathis

Bryce C. “Matt” Mathis (asa Quarter Man) age 89 passed away Friday, April 20, 2012 at the West Branch Regional Medical Center. Matt has been a resident of the West Branch Area since 2001 previously of Ohio. Matt was a past Boy Scout Leader in Melvindale, MI. He enjoyed hunting, camping, and liked anything outdoors. He loved to help people who were in distress. Some of his other hobbies included woodworking, and coaching little league hockey. He also loved observing wildlife. Matt is survived by his wife of 36 years Joan Mathis of West Branch, daughter Maureen Mathis, daughter Nancy Mathis, son David Mathis, daughter Kathleen (Hipolito) Martinez of Belleville, daughter Kimberly (Gary) Maitland of Randolph, NJ.; and daughter Patricia (David) McHone of Jersey City, NJ. He has 7 grandchildren Michael, Ryan, Anthony, Ashley, Christian, Noah, and Autumn; and 4 great grandchildren Cianna, Kaitlyn, Mathew, and Andrew. Matt is also survived by 1 sister Audrey Owens of Allen Park, and 1 brother Elmo Mathis of Nashville, TN. Visitation for Matt will begin Sunday, April 22, 2012 from 12-9 PM at the Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch. His funeral will be Monday, April 23, 2012 at 1:30 PM at the Funeral Home. Pastor Daniel Stoneback will officiate. Memorial Donations are suggested to The Boy Scouts of America.
