Bruce W. Royer, age 82 of West Branch, passed away Saturday, April 11, 2009 at his home. Bruce had lived in West Branch since 1992, formerly of Royal Oak. He was born October 24, 1926 in Saginaw and graduated from Theodore Roosevelt High School in 1944, the University of Michigan with a Bachelor of Science Degree in landscape architecture and earned a Master’s Degree in urban planning from Wayne State University. He also attended the University of Illinois and the University of Maine. He served in the U.S. Army from 1944 to 1946 with the rank of Sergeant and received an honorable discharge. Bruce was employed by the Wyandotte Chemical Corp., the City of Trenton and the City of Ferndale. He was a prominent contributor to the Lake Ogemaw Association and was a member of the Masonic Lodge #8 in Trenton. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and was an avid outdoorsman. Bruce is survived by his daughters, Lori (Keith) Brown of Mariposa, CA and Wendi Royer of Waterford, grandsons, Brad (Kristie), Ryan, Chad and Craig and great-grandchildren, Zachary and Keira. Also surviving is his sister in law, Don (Louise) Barbeau of Brownstown and brother in law, Gerry (Karen) Kaufman of Riverview. He was preceded in death by his wife Jean in 2004. Visitation at the Steuernol & McLaren in West Branch will begin on Saturday, April 18, 2009 at noon until the time of the service at 2:00 p.m. Rev. Dan Stoneback will officiate. Memorial Contributions may be made to Hospice of Helping Hands, West Branch.
