Billy Gene Widmer, age 70, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, May 21, 2020 in Alger, MI. He was born on August 13, 1949 in Toledo, OH to Gene and Helen (McPherson) Widmer. Billed lived in Prescott since December of 2019, formerly of Lawrenceburg, KY. He served in the United States Army in the Vietnam War as a tank turret repairman and wheel vehicle mechanic. He retired from the Army after 20 years of service. He was a member of the American Legion Post#370 in Skidway Lake and a member of the American Legion Riders. His rider name was “War Dog”. Billy enjoyed riding his golf cart and was an avid University of Kentucky Fan.
Billy is survived by his daughters, Amy and Sara Widmer; cousins, Don (Melanie) Utt, Patty (Randy) Keltner and Cathy Hayes; and many nieces, one nephew, several extended family members and many friends from the Legion. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, JoAnne Widmer and brother, Roger Widmer.
Per his wishes, cremation has taken place and his ashes will be buried in the Camp Nelson National Cemetery in Nicholasville, KY with veteran honors.
