Beulah (Bea) Eastman passed away Tuesday, February 3, 2009 at Bortz Health Care Facility in West Branch where she had lived for the past 26 years. Mrs. Eastman was born on March 14, 1920 in Gibson County, Indiana. She attended the MT. Olympus High School in Indiana. She graduated from Central Michigan University. She began teaching in a one room country school in 1955. She was named Citizen of the Year in 1980 in Lennon, MI. and retired from teaching 1981. She was very active in the NEA for many years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Wesley and Polly (Hunt) Hale, 3 husbands, Roy Field, Arthur Craner and Leon Eastman, 6 brothers and sisters, Oliver, Edward and Arthur Hale, Katie Welch, May Welch and Anna Staser. She is survived by a daughter, Sharon Griggs of Sierra Vista AZ, a granddaughter, Angela Griggs of Kentucky, 2 great-granddaughters, Mrs. Jon (Staci)Conat of Kentucky and Mrs. Andy (Amy) Chilafoe of Korea. She has 4 great-great grandchildren, Logan, Alyssa, Savannah and Adam and many nieces and nephews and her caregivers, Cathy Verellen and Rolland Benjamin. She is loved and missed by all. Special thanks to all the staff at Bortz Health Care of West Branch for all their care and love these last 3 years, also to Hospice of Helping Hands of West Branch and their volunteers. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Memorial Contributions may be made to Hospice of Helping Hands, West Branch.
