Betty Darlene Trost, a beloved figure in her community, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 12, 2024, at The Villa in Rose City, MI, at the age of 93. Born to Clyde and Alice (Eddy) Herlan on Saturday, February 21, 1931, in Ohio, Betty was known for her loving, caring, and kindness that touched the lives of many throughout her lifetime.
Betty dedicated many years to her career as a phlebotomist, where she served with compassion and diligence. Her professional life, however, was just one aspect of her vibrant existence. She was especially passionate about her involvement in her church, the Church of Christ in Gladwin, MI. Faith played a central role in her life, and she attended services faithfully with her husband, Fred. Betty contributed to the church in numerous ways, with her favorite activities including supporting the Care Bears program and participating in "In Search of the Lord's Way."
Her hobbies reflected her nurturing spirit, as she found joy in reading, cooking, and baking. A quintessential homemaker, she created a warm and loving environment for her family.
Betty leaves behind her cherished daughter, Susan (Tim) Yeager of Beaverton, MI, and her sister, Karen (Art) Smith of Homer, MI. She is also survived by her son-in-law, Tony Bodeker of West Branch, MI. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Alice (Eddy) Herlan, her daughter, Denise G. Bodeker, and an infant grandchild.
A graveside service to honor her life will be held on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Ridge Cemetery, in Gladwin, Mi. Pastor Mark Sherfield a long-time family pastor and friend will officiate. Betty will be remembered fondly for her unwavering kindness, her deep faith, and the love she shared with her family and friends.
