Betty Jane Hagerman

Betty Jane Hagerman, age 92, passed away on Friday, November 18, 2016 at Peaceful Acres in West Branch, MI. She had lived in West Branch since 1978, formerly of Shelby Township, MI. Betty was born on March 7, 1924 in Detroit, MI to Ephriam and Blanche (Chamness) White. She worked in a factory as a “Rosie the Riveter” in her younger years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. Betty volunteered with the Tolfree Memorial Hospital, West Branch Regional Medical Center, St. Vincent DePaul, and Hospice of Helping Hands. When she was able to help, she would help on Christmas Day serving the community at G’s Pizzeria and also at the Christmas House. Betty was always a giving person and donated to the various charities, but what was real dear to her heart was the Ogemaw County Humane Society. She had a passion for animals and caring for them. She enjoyed reading, hunting, cutting wood, and sending cards of encouragement to those in need.

Betty is survived by her son, Morris Hagerman; grandchildren, Kyle and Lauren; sister, Phyllis Johnson of Fenton, MI; niece, Valerie Ann (Dick) McDonald of Fenton, MI; and cousin, J. Ralph (Barbara) Chamness of Troy, MI. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Al, and son, Thomas.

The Funeral Service will be held on Monday, November 21, 2016 at the First United Methodist Church in West Branch at 11:00 a.m. with visitation starting at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Brookside Cemetery. Rev. Tim Dibble will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions can be made to First United Methodist Church, Compassus Hospice or Ogemaw County Humane Society.
