Betty Jean Doonan

Betty Jean (Wenger) Doonan was born on December 22, 1924, in Midland, MI to Elsworth and Mary (Rogers) Wenger.  

At the age of 99 ½, her soul was lifted up to heaven on angel’s wings on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, in West Branch, MI.

Betty grew up in Midland, MI.  During her college years, she met and fell in love with Bill Doonan, a handsome Navy pilot.

Being the mother of five children, Debi, Billy, Marla, Lynda, and Donna, kept her busy and young for years.  Living in Michigan for most of her life, she also lived in North Carolina for 16 years.   

She enjoyed shopping, swimming, boating, and hunting for driftwood brought her great joy.  Betty loved Jesus.  She was an avid gardener and talented at creating arts and crafts and painting ceramics.  Making homemade cards for shut-ins was her gift to others in her last years.

Betty was a grandmother of 9, great grandmother of 9, and had two great great granddaughters.  Her surviving children are Deborah Fournier, Marla Forman, Lynda Mathewson, and Donna Phillips.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Bill Doonan, who went to heaven 22 years ago and her son, Billy Doonan followed in 2015.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
