Bernice Barbara Smith

Bernice B. Smith, age 76, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, May 24, 2017 in Sterling, MI. She had lived in Alger, MI for the past 10 years, formerly of Carsonville, MI. Bernice was born on August 20, 1940 to Joseph and Sophie (Pokora) Peruski in Ubly, MI. On December 18, 1973 she married Dwane Smith in Port Sanilac, MI. Bernice was a member at the St. Stephen Catholic Church in Prescott, MI. She enjoyed knitting, doing puzzles, flowers, collecting dolls, camping and traveling.

Bernice is survived by her loving husband of 43 years, Dwane Smith of Alger; sisters, Angeline, Rose (Norm), and Susie (Robert); brothers, Glen and Tom (Diane); godson, Greg; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She is preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Vanessa Anne, brothers, Eugene and Leonard “Butch” and brother in law, Dan.

The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at St. Stephen Catholic Church in Prescott, MI with the mass at 11:00 a.m. and visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. Fr. Joseph Ortega will officiate. Burial will follow at Mills Township Cemetery.
