Beatrice E. Kartes, age 92, passed away on Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at The Villa at West Branch. She had lived in West Branch, MI her entire life. Beatrice was born to Frank and Carrie (Meddaugh) Green in West Branch on July 9, 1923. She was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Catholic Council of Women. She enjoyed Tai Chi exercise classes, cooking, sewing, quilting, baking, crocheting, and making arts and crafts.
Beatrice is survived by her children, Melvia Buckel of West Branch, Marjorie Reinke of North Branch, and Anna Chisa of Saginaw; daughter in law, Sally Kartes of AZ; 9 grandchildren, many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; sisters, Melvia Goldy, Mary Ann (Roy) Benjamin and Rose Marie (Roger) Detzler; brothers, Tyrus Green and Vern (Delores) Green; and sister in law, Joan Green. She is preceded in death by her husband, Steve; son, Ray; sons in law, Edward Buckel, Rodger Reinke, and John “Jack” Chisa; sister, Virginia Schaefer; brother, Frank “Sonny” Green Jr.; and great great granddaughter, Dakota Parrish.
Visitation at Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch will begin on Sunday, June 12, 2016 from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 3:00 p.m. The Celebration of Life Mass will be at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Monday, June 13, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation starting at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Father Patrick Maher will officiate.
