Barbara Jean Rulason

Barbara Jean Rulason, age 85, passed away on Saturday, July 13, 2019 at her home in St. Helen with her family by her side. She was born on July 9, 1934 in Owosso, MI to Floyd and Opal (Aldrich) Varco. She lived in St. Helen since 1963, formerly of Owosso. Barbara was a lifetime member the American Legion Auxiliary in St. Helen where she served in many offices and was the President of the Women’s Auxiliary District 10, St. Helen Helping Hands, Chairman of the Poppy Committee, VA Volunteer and a committee member for the Blue Gill Festival. She also belonged to the Red Hat Society and the Say What Club. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and loved music. Her greatest treasures were her grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Barbara is survived by her daughter, Sheila Ford and husband, Craig of St. Helen; grandchildren, Kevin Nagel, Joshua Bennett, Lara Bennett, Nicholas Bennett and Brian Rhinehart; great grandchildren, Dominique Nagel, Arianna Nagel, Trevin Nagel, Jadylyn Prochet and Aelin Rennee Bennett; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, first husband, Robert Wycoff, second husband, Vernon Rulason, brothers, Calvin Varco; and twin brothers, Dale and Gale Varco.

Visitation at Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in St. Helen will begin on Thursday, July 18, 2019 from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The Funeral Service will be at the Lake St. Helen Baptist Church on Friday, July 19, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation starting at 10:00 a.m. Pastor Roger Green will officiate. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery.
