Anthony (Tony) Derus

Anthony (Tony) Derus, age 55, passed away on Friday, September 8, 2006 at his home in Lupton. He resided in Lupton since 1991, formerly of Mt. Morris Township. Tony married Terry McMahan on July 29, 1983 in Mt. Morris Township. He was employed by General Motors for 29 years and was the neighborhood handyman. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather; loved his children and grandchildren; was always happy being at home and the lake and enjoyed hunting. Surviving family members include Tony's wife Terry; daughter Renee (Lonney) Jarnigin of Flint; son Chris (Cate) Derus of Stockbridge, son Chad Peters of Flint, son Jamie (Kim) Peters of West Branch; seven grandchildren Toni, Taylor, Amber, Madison, Julia, Autumn, Maggie, "soon to arrive" baby grandson and brother Ron (Gerre) Derus of Davison. Also surviving Tony are his mother-in-law and father-in-law Marlene and Harry McMahan; sister-in-law Janet (Bill) Wood, brother-in-law Tim (Laura) McMahan, sister-in-law Kelly (Brian) Currie, sister-in-law Karol (Andy) Marchig and several nieces and nephews. Preceding Tony in death were his parents, sister-in-law Susan and niece Dara. Visitation at Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in Rose City will be held on Sunday, September 10, 2006 from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 11, 2006 at the funeral home with Lay Pastor Harry McMahon officiating. Burial will be at Lane Heights Cemetery following the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Foundation in memory of Susan Derus.
