Allan Wilbert Fach, age 95, passed away on Sunday, August 26, 2018 at The Villa in Rose City, MI. He was born on September 30, 1922 in Rose City to Gustav and Elizabeth (Sy) Fach. Allan has lived in Rose City for all of his life. He was a graduate of Michigan State College and was part of the boxing team. He married Lucille Bohnard on July 22, 1944 in West Branch. He was a local businessman and started 6 businesses. Allan was a builder in Rose City and a real-estate developer. He was a dairy farmer and had a milk route with his business, Allan Fach Trucking Company. After selling his farm and milk route in 1956, he and his wife started a Dairy Queen in Rose City which included a play land park with five rides and trampolines. Once the Dairy Queen was established, he built the city’s first self-serve car wash. The car wash was located just south, in the back of the parking lot at Dairy Queen. In 1981, Allan purchased the Scenic Motel that had 7 rooms and built an additional 10 rooms before selling the motel in 2000. The last business he started was the General Construction Business, which was a forty-one lot subdivision called the Highland Pines Subdivision.

Allan was helping the community in various ways and serving on several committees. He brought the first bank to Rose City in 1958, the first dentist in town, and Casemaster Body (called Header Products, now ATF) to Rose City, which was the first factory to the town. Allan was also involved with the Prestolite Manufacturing Plant, American Plastics and bringing the Consumers Power Plant into the city. He and Eldon & Evadell Miller purchased the flags and poles that hang at City Hall, and raising the funds for the pavilion at the City Park. Allan served as a City Tax Assessor for 20 years and was a member of the Lions Club in Rose City and St. John Lutheran Church in West Branch. Allan enjoyed trips to the casino, playing Blackjack, hunting and spending time with his grandchildren.

Allan is survived by his wife, Lucille Fach of Rose City; sons, Randy Fach and Robert (Linda) Fach both of Rose City; grandchildren, Jeb (Valerie) Fach of Seattle, WA, Courtney (Greg) Hills of Midland, MI, Lindsay (Morgan) Maul of Hamilton, MI, Brandi (Stephen) Schellenbarger of Midland, MI, Allan (Mindy) Fach of Alaska, and Kacie (Braden) Mercer of West Branch; great grandchildren, Addison Hills, Mason Hills, Aiden Hills, Emma Maul, Sara Maul, Savannah Fach, Saylor Schellenbarger, Kaiser Mercer, Rolly Fach of Alaska and step great grandchildren, Noah and Natalie of Alaska. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother, Dale and sisters, Bea, Hazel and Dottie.

Visitation at Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in Rose City will begin on Wednesday, August 29, 2018 from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Visitation at Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch will then start on Thursday, August 30, 2018 from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held at the St. John Lutheran Church in West Branch on Friday, August 31, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation starting at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be at Rose City Cemetery. Pastor Howard Travis will officiate.
