Alissa Marie Bunnell

Alissa Marie Bunnell, age 26, a wonderful daughter, sister, granddaughter, niece and friend to all who knew her, was tragically taken, far too soon in a car accident in Gladwin, MI, on Tuesday, April 6, 2021, not far from the town she so lovingly raised in, West Branch, MI. She was born on September 18, 1994 in Saginaw, MI. Alissa was the loving daughter of Cara (Surline) Bunnell and Patrick Bunnell and sister to Kendra, who is currently living in Germany.

Alissa graduated from Ogemaw Heights High School in 2012. She had many unfulfilled dreams and aspirations and was bound and determined to achieve each of them, some which were just about to become a reality as she was weeks away from her graduation from Saginaw Valley State University with a degree in Health Sciences and was recently hired by Mid-Michigan Urgent Care in Gladwin, Michigan. She was looking forward to being a part of the health community to be able to continue caring for others as she has been an amazing and dependable caregiver of her mom, who has battled Multiple Sclerosis since early adulthood. Cara is paralyzed and wheelchair bound and requires extensive care and Alissa was always there for her mom.

Alissa was free-spirited and had an extreme zest for life. She loved her boyfriend, Riley Grove, and their two dogs, Brantley and Dozer, who were both survivors in the accident. She really enjoyed “hanging out with her friends” while making Tik Tok videos, attending country music concerts and watching Days of Our Lives soap opera.

Alissa will be so greatly missed by all who knew her and loved her. Please extend your warm thoughts and continued prayers as the family grieves this incredible loss.

Alissa is survived by her parents, Cara (Surline) Bunnell of West Branch and Patrick (Bonnie) Bunnell of Gladwin; sister, Kendra (significant other, Nils) Bunnell of Germany; grandparents, Randy (Frankie) Surline of Wesley Chapel, FL, Nancy Surline of West Branch, and Bill (Fran) Bunnell of West Branch; uncles, Randy Surline of Brighton and Bob Bunnell of Vassar; boyfriend, Riley Grove of Gladwin; step-sister Alexis Jacobs of Gladwin; step-nephew Karson Oberloier of Gladwin and dogs, Brantley James and Dozer Michael.

Visitation will be held at Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch on Monday, April 12, 2021 from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday, April 13, 2021 from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Visitation will be held with precautions, due to the current pandemic, limiting the number of attendees at a given time.

Memorial contributions can be made to the family. A Go Fund Me has also been set up to help with Alissa’s funeral arrangements.
