Alice Gildner, age 93, passed away peacefully with family by her side on Sunday, November 19, 2017. She was the widower of Raymond Gildner. They shared 67 years of marriage. Alice was born in Unionville, MI on November 25, 1923. She was the daughter of Louis and Helen Remilong. She was one of eleven children, 3 brothers and 3 sisters predeceased her. Alice married Raymond Gildner on September 1, 1945. They owned a dairy/cattle farm in West Branch for 71 years. Together they raised 4 boys, Richard and Nancy Gildner, Ed and Kate Gildner, Dale and Tracy Gildner, and Wayne and Andrea Gildner, all of West Branch. She had many grand and great grandchildren. Alice is also survived by her sibling, John Remilong, Peggy Nelson, Mickey Wangler, and JoAnn Walters all of West Branch.
Alice enjoyed working in her flower and vegetable garden. She was always sharing her harvest with others. She liked painting and crafting, fishing, was a deer hunter into her 80’s, and was a “summer mom” to many nieces and nephews.
Visitation at Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch will begin on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The funeral service will be at the funeral home on Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation starting at 10:00 a.m. Rev. Tim Dibble will officiate. Burial will follow at Edwards Township Cemetery.
