Albert Benjamin Zimmer

Albert Benjamin Zimmer, age 87, passed away on Thursday, January 29, 2015. He was born on June 5, 1927 to Harry and Marjorie Zimmer in Detroit, MI. Albert enlisted into the U.S. Navy on March 1, 1945. He was honorably discharged on August 3, 1946 after receiving the Asiatic Pacific Area Campaign Metal and Victory Medal. He then enlisted and completed 36 months of active duty with the United States Army between the years of 1948-1952 at which time he was honorably discharged with the Army Occupation Medal. Albert was a life time member of V.F.W. #3775, member of the American Legion and N.R.A. He retired from G. M. after 30 years of service. He also worked for West Branch Township for many years.

Albert is survived by his sons: Allen Zimmer of Bay City, MI, Randall Zimmer and John Zimmer of West Branch, MI; grandchildren: Janette (Terry) Miles, Jennifer (Chris) Zimmer and Joseph (Amanda) Zimmer; great-grandchildren: Kyle, Kaylyn, Aleesa, Cody, Wyatt, Morgan, Marshall, and Josie; great-great-grandson, Colin; siblings: Edward Zimmer, Cora (Harold) Terry, and Frances Brown all of West Branch; and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Lois Zimmer.

Visitation will begin on Monday, February 2, 2015 at 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home of West Branch. Visitation will continue on February 3, 2015 at 10 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m.
