Ailene Marie Hansen

Ailene Marie Hansen, age 99, passed away on Sunday, July 4, 2021 at Horizon Senior Living in West Branch surrounded by her family. She was born on September 17, 1921 in West Branch, MI to Ollie and Lila (Wilcox) Mier.

Ailene was a teacher in a one room school. She was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in West Branch and the Council of Catholic Women. She enjoyed knitting, traveling, cooking, baking cookies for her grandchildren and bake sales.

Ailene is survived by children, Gregory (Connie) Hansen, Michael (Vegie) Hansen, Grant Hansen and Carol Sarver; 13 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; and sisters, Maude Drumm and Jean Hejduk. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Carl, and brothers, Robert Mier, Carl Mier, Berle Mier and Earl Mier.

Visitation at Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch will begin on Sunday, July 11, 2021 from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The funeral mass will be on Monday, July 12, 2021 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. with visitation starting at 10:00 a.m. Father Emmanuel Finbarr will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Ogemaw Commission on Aging and St. Joseph Catholic School.
