Adrian James Dantzer, age 89, passed away Monday August 25, 2014 in West Branch, MI. Adrian had lived in West Branch for all of his life. He was born to Adrian and Mary (Moore) Dantzer on November 1, 1924 in Berkley, MI. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, VFW, Past President of Kiwanis, Knights of Columbus Council #2022 where he was a Grand Knight, District Deputy, and a 4th Degree Knight. Adrian was chairman of the Economic Development Committee for 23 years and was very active in the community where he volunteered for many organizations. He also owned and operated Dantzer’s Service Station for 50 years. Adrian served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII and served in Brazil. Adrian is survived by his children: Ron (Clara) Dantzer of West Branch, Larry (Eileen) Dantzer of West Branch, Linda (Dick) Dunn of West Branch, Sandy (Chris) Dantzer-Donahue of Colorado Springs, CO., Jim (Sandy) Dantzer of West Branch, Dave (Missy) Dantzer of West Branch, Jerry (Wendy) Dantzer of Grand Rapids, MI, Mark (Sharol) Dantzer of West Branch, Patty (Dave) Walby of West Branch; 24 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his brothers: Richard (Deb) Dantzer of West Branch, Carl “Douglas” (Edith) Dantzer of Flint, MI; sisters: Alice Klemmer of St. Petersburg, FL and Helen (Bob) Bryer of St. Clair Shores, MI. He was preceded in death by his wife, Maxine, parents, and siblings, Betty Dantzer, Jack Dantzer, and Millie Zettel. Visitation at the Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch will begin on Thursday, August 28, 2014 from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a K of C Rosary at 7:00 p.m. and a Scripture Service at 7:30 p.m. On Friday, August 29, 2014, Adrian will lie in state at St. Joseph Catholic Church beginning at 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Celebration of Life Mass at 11:00 a.m. Fr. Patrick Maher will officiate. Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Joseph School Endowment Fund, St. Joseph School Technology Fund, or St. Joseph School Art Fund.
