John Robert Chapman

John Robert Chapman, age 65, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 17, 2023, at his home in Alger, MI surrounded by his loving family. He was a loving and kind husband, father, brother, and friend. He worked tirelessly to provide for his family and built a community of love. John was born on December 22, 1957, in Detroit, MI to Edmund and Helen Chapman. John lived in Alger since 2015, formerly of South Lyon, MI.

John enjoyed snowmobiling, martial arts, and water sports. He worked in the auto industry his whole life and loved anything to do with cars, the faster the better. One of the many qualities John was known for was his ability to face any challenge and fix any problem that came across his path. He supported others without expecting anything in return.

John is survived by his loving wife Virginia Chapman of Alger; sons John Chapman Jr. of Portage, MI and Michael Chapman of Louisville, KY; sisters Suzanne (James) King of Rhome, TX and Caroline (James Corp) Chapman of Pinckney, MI; and several cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Per his wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society.
